Beauty Cape Gallery participates with the Look Good Feel Better Program.  Look Good Feel Better is a free program offered throughout the nation.  Look Good Feel Better is designed for women undergoing chemotherapy, radiation, and other forms of cancer treatment.  The Program is developed in collaboration with the Personal Care Products Council Foundation, the American Cancer Society and the Professional Beauty Association.  The Look Good Feel Better Program offers instructions and advice on dealing with the temporary appearance changes of cancer treatment.  Look Good Feel Better Program began in 1989 and serves more than 50,000 women annually.

Beauty Cape Gallery offers private one on one appointments teaching makeup applications, hair/wig care, as well as nail care.  You and your doctor have likely discussed how treatments might affect your appearance.  This can be hair loss, and even include your eyebrows and lashes.  It can also be changes to you skin and nails.  These appearance changes almost always go away after cancer treatments end.  Client will learn how to cleanse and moisturize their skin as well a full makeup lesson.  Beauty Cape will explain colors that compliments client's skin tones.  The free one on one appointment can run between 1-2 hours in length going over the full makeup/skin care, advice on wigs/hair services as well as nail care.

Beauty Cape Gallery has offered classes at Beth Wright Cancer Resource Center in Ellsworth including free makeup kits and wigs.  During the one on one appointments at Beauty Cape Hair/Makeup Gallery, clients are required to bring in their own makeup supplies.  Beauty Cape has two DVDs for client to watch, one is regarding the Look Good Feel Better Program and another DVD deals with style including dressing and clothing tips.  Style is the first thing that goes out the window when you have cancer, but it is there when you are ready to pick back up and move forward a positive, confident sense of self during treatment and recovery.

Chemotherapy can sometimes cause changes in your nails and nail beds.  Nails may be more brittle, have grooves, changed color and more sensitive.  Nail changes almost always go away after treatment ends.  Beauty Cape Gallery will explain nail care also.

Beauty Cape Gallery will explain wig services as well.  There are many creative, fashionable ways to deal with hair loss.  We will teach and explain wig selection determining which hair style and color flatters you best.  Beauty Cape will explain wig care including washing and styling wigs.  Turbans, scarves and hats will also be explained.  Wigs are also offered free through the American Cancer Society.

Beauty Cape Gallery is always accepting wig donations for our wig banks.  If you or you know someone that has extra wigs or a wig that can be donated, it would be greatly appreciated.

Clients want to get better but clients want to look their best even while receiving treatments.  Beauty Cape Gallery is here to help with Looking Good and Feeling Better!
